Links with Employers

One of Newfriars College's aims is to help prepare young people who want to work for employment. We have built links with a wide range of employers. Our students have the opportunity to visit different workplaces as well as take part in work experience opportunities.

We have a group of students who complete work experience each week with Tesco. We have groups of students who volunteer at the Furniture Mine and the Alice Charity. We have groups who work in local cafes and support cafes in local organisations. We have close links with local football clubs. We offer a weekly shopping service to the Oaks Care Home. We work with a garden centre and local community groups helping maintain the local environment.

Each year, a new group of students start their Supported Internships with the Royal Stoke Hospital. From this opportunity each year young people have found permanent paid employment in different roles at the Hospital.

Everything we do at the College is about opening up opportunities for our young people and every year we find and grow these opportunities.
